Their Holiday Glasses are Frosted and Half Full

The ShopKeep Small Business Index (SSBI) reports that small business owners have broader concerns other than switching to EMV card readers. Though they are optimistic, many have worries as the holidays approach. 

Seventy-three percent of survey respondents stated that they will not be hiring seasonal employees and 30% of small business owners will close on major holidays, including Black Friday. And if the pressure of the holiday season wasn’t enough, Mother Nature can be a problem. Half of the merchants surveyed expressed concern about inclement weather impacting sales – especially with last year’s record-breaking low temperatures still fresh in their minds.

All these factors can impact bottom lines, which is something marketers should take into consideration during the holiday season.
